Algoma Highlands Wild Blueberry Farm and Winery is a 640 acre family farm located 3 km from downtown Wawa. It's fields are transected by Hwy 17 and uses an old tree nursery to process and ship it's wild blueberries and associated products. This is a unique geological site, consisting of 100% sand being old Lake Superior beachfront from times gone by, ideal for the encouragement of wild blueberry plants. Scenic High Falls, a major tourist attraction in the Wawa area, can only be accessed via our farm road. Moose, bears, wolves, cranes, eagles and all the other animals of Northern Ontario are common sights on the fields during the summer season.
In 2011, we sold both fresh and frozen berries, and in 2013 we entered the value-added market selling a variety of jams, barbeque sauce, juice, and syrup. All products are 100% natural, with no artificial colour or preservatives added. Algoma Highlands has recently expanded these markets and added a winery.
We have added a strawberry U-Pick each harvest season and we offer winery tours which include wine-tasting in our Gift Shop! We deliver our products across Canada*, and have retail clients who carry our preservatives and fresh and frozen products throughout Ontario. *Wine can only be shipped within Ontario.

The farm is located adjacent to the town of Wawa, located between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay in Northern Ontario.
The property is situated along both sides of Highway 17 North providing easy access to all farming operations. The total area is slightly in excess of 600 acres with approximately 450 acres being level sandy plains, ideal for wild blueberry production. This area has been identified as highly suitable for this endeavor.
The land is extremely unique in that it is composed of flat sandy plains with no surface stone or rock. Soil samples were analyzed after the area was logged and acidity levels were found to fall within the optimal level for wild blueberries. Wild blueberries were already growing throughout most parts of the site and on adjacent land.
